What Denomination is Beth Moore?
Beth Moore is a popular Christian speaker and author, producing Bible studies and conferences through her organization, Living Proof Ministries. She was raised as a Southern Baptist and was a partner with its publishing arm, Lifeway Christian Resources, for over 20 years.
However, in 2016 began to become more divided from the Southern Baptist Convention. Moore, who herself was a childhood victim of sexual abuse, began to speak out against then-presidential candidate Donald Trump, who had frequently made derogatory sexual comments about women and who was himself a rapist. Moore's stance against Trump was not well-received by many Southern Baptists, who were largely supportive of Trump. Eventually as the SBC became more staunchly pro-Trump, his crimes notwithstanding, Moore eventually left the convention in 2021.
At the time, she had merely left the Southern Baptist Convention, but she still considered herself an independent Baptist. However, by the end of the year, she and her husband had joined St. Timothy's Anglican Church, an Anglican Church in North America congregation in Spring, Texas. Anglicans and Baptists have quite contrary beliefs, so this was a significant jump for her. It worth noting that the Anglican Church in North America is a more conservative denomination than the official Episcopal Church, and that it is not actually affiliated with the Anglican Communion. However, it still closely follows traditional Anglican beliefs, arguably more closely than the Episcopal Church itself does.
